The documents have been written for teachers, parents and interested members of the community. They provide an overview of the primary curriculum that has been and is being developed by the Board of Studies NSW.

The NSW Primary Curriculum Foundation Statements

NSW Primary Curriculum Foundation Statements are short, clear descriptions of the knowledge and skills that each student should develop at each stage of primary school. They answer the question 'What must be taught in all schools?'.

K-6 Linkages project

An ongoing Board of Studies NSW K-6 curriculum project that identifies related content and outcomes across the six key learning areas, giving insight into teachers' approaches to curriculum integration, using student work samples and teacher-devised units of work.

HSC: All My Own Work

The HSC: All My Own Work program is designed to help Higher School Certificate students to follow the principles and practices of good scholarship. This includes understanding and valuing ethical practices when locating and using information as part of their HSC studies. The program consists of five modules and is available in online and downloadable formats. From 2008, all students entered for one or more HSC courses with an external examination will be required to have satisfactorily completed the HSC: All My Own Work program, or its equivalent.

Aboriginal Educational Contexts

Aboriginal Languages

As the implementation of the NSW Aboriginal Languages K–10 Syllabus is in its infancy, everyone involved in setting up Aboriginal language programs is learning a great deal along the way. One early lesson is that language revival is a long-term process that requires commitment, vision and hard work. Find out more here.

Mathematics and Numeracy

K-6 Teaching and Learning Units include making and measuring a snake mural, environmental mathematics and using money

Years 6-8 Teaching and Learning Units include measuring and comparing weights and lengths of Aboriginal hunting and gathering equipment and a variety of school-based measurement activities (volume, scale drawing, angles)

Science Years 7-10

Units of work include astronomy, earth science and technology.

Visual Arts

This section will soon include the complete contents of the highly successful Affirmations of Identity: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Visual Artists Resource Kit, published in 2000.

Protecting Australian Indigenous art: ownership, copyright and marketing issues for NSW schools

Provides information and case studies about copyright and the protection of Indigenous art in the Australian context. This is placed within a discussion of the appropriate use of such art and the considerations for teaching and learning programs.

Registration and Accreditation of Non-government Schools (RANGS)

The Board of Studies NSW is responsible for providing advice and making recommendations to the Minister for Education and Training about the registration of non-government schools and for making decisions about the accreditation of non-government schools to present candidates for the School Certificate and Higher School Certificate.

Registered and accredited non-government schools, and registration systems, must abide by the Education Act 1990.

ARTEXPRESS represents the high standards and diversity achieved by Year 12 Visual Arts students in New South Wales schools.
